YOUR JOURNEY, YOUR RESULTS

Pigmentation, skin tone, unevenness: target, reduce and even out.

After the first session

Targeted pigmentation gradually lightens over the following weeks as the skin clears the pigment.

Over the course of treatment

With 1–3 sessions, depending on the type of pigmentation, 4–6 weeks apart, results develop progressively:

  • a visible reduction in the appearance of pigmentation
  • a more even complexion
  • brighter-looking skin

Maintaining your results

Daily sun protection is essential: the laser targets existing pigmentation but does not prevent new pigmentation from developing.

The number of sessions is determined during your medical consultation, and the doctor assesses your results at each stage. Individual results vary.

YOUR TREATMENT IN 3 STEPS

  • MEDICAL CONSULTATION

Your Innerskin doctor assesses the nature of the pigmentation, its location, your skin type and your medical history to determine whether laser treatment is suitable.

  • TAILORED TECHNOLOGY

Your doctor selects Hollywood Spectra™ or Clarity II™ according to the type of pigmentation and your skin. The settings are precisely adjusted before each session.

  • TARGETED ACTION

Laser energy is delivered to the pigmented areas to target the melanin responsible for the colour. The skin then gradually clears the targeted pigment.

Pigmentation Laser - What is it
WHAT IS PIGMENTATION LASER?

Pigmentation laser uses specifically selected light energy to target the melanin responsible for certain brown spots.

Melanin is the natural pigment that gives skin its colour. When it builds up excessively or unevenly in certain areas, it can form visible marks.

The principle of the laser is to deliver energy that is preferentially absorbed by this pigment. Depending on the technology used, this energy targets and breaks up concentrations of melanin so that they are then gradually cleared by the skin's natural mechanisms.

However, not all brown spots are the same.

Some are superficial, others deeper. Some are mainly linked to sun exposure or skin ageing, while others may have a hormonal or inflammatory origin.

That is why a prior diagnosis is essential: a laser is not chosen simply because a spot is brown.

At Innerskin London, our doctors use Hollywood Spectra™ and Clarity II™ to adapt the technology to the nature of the pigment and your skin type.

A MULTI-TARGET ACTION

  • PIGMENT – Targets excessive concentrations of melanin
  • PRECISION – Energy is delivered specifically to the areas concerned
  • EVENNESS – Gradually improves skin tone evenness
  • RADIANCE – Reveals visibly more radiant-looking skin
  • TAILORED – Technology and settings adapted to each type of pigmentation
HOLLYWOOD SPECTRA™ & CLARITY II™

TWO TECHNOLOGIES FOR A PERSONALISED APPROACH TO PIGMENTATION

Not all pigmentation requires the same wavelength, energy or pulse mode.

HOLLYWOOD SPECTRA™

Hollywood Spectra™ is a specialist laser platform that uses very short pulses in particular to target pigment. The energy absorbed by the melanin creates a photoacoustic effect that breaks pigment particles into smaller fragments, which are then gradually cleared by the body. It may be selected for various pigmentation concerns depending on the nature of the spot, its depth and your skin type.

CLARITY II™

Clarity II™ is a dual-wavelength laser platform combining Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm. For certain pigmentation concerns, particularly when the pigment is superficial and sufficiently contrasted, your doctor can select the appropriate wavelength and settings to precisely target the melanin.

WHY TWO TECHNOLOGIES?

Because a superficial sun spot, deeper pigmentation and complex pigmentation do not behave in the same way. Having several technologies makes it possible to select the most suitable approach, rather than systematically using the same laser on every type of pigmentation.

Pigmentation Laser - Who is it for
WHO IS IT FOR?

Pigmentation laser may be suitable for people who wish to improve the appearance of certain types of pigmentation, such as:

  • Solar lentigines (sun spots)
  • Spots linked to photoageing
  • Certain superficial pigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone due to pigmentation
  • Certain localised spots on the face or body

AREAS

Depending on your concern:

  • Face
  • Décolletage
  • Hands
  • Arms
  • Shoulders
  • Other sun-exposed areas

A pigmented spot must always be correctly identified before being treated with a laser. If there is any doubt about the nature of a lesion, your doctor may request an additional dermatology opinion before any session.

Q&A

The sensation varies depending on the technology, the settings and the area. It is usually described as a series of quick pinpricks with a feeling of warmth.

The number of sessions depends on the type of pigmentation, its depth, the technology used and how your skin responds. Some localised spots may respond quickly, while others require several sessions.

Your doctor will set your treatment plan after the diagnosis.

The aim is to visibly reduce the pigmentation. The degree of improvement depends on the nature and depth of the spot and on your skin's individual response.

No laser can guarantee that pigmentation will disappear permanently.

Yes. The laser targets the pigment present but does not stop the skin from producing melanin again.

Sun exposure, skin ageing, certain hormonal factors and individual predisposition can lead to new pigmentation.

Daily sun protection is essential to maintain your results.

Sun exposure must be strictly limited after pigmentation laser, and high sun protection is essential.

How long these precautions last depends on the technology, the intensity used and your skin. Your doctor will give you detailed aftercare advice to follow after the session.

Depending on the pigmentation and the technology used, redness or a feeling of warmth may appear temporarily.

Some spots may also darken in the days following the session before gradually lightening. It is important not to scratch or pick any small scabs and to follow the aftercare advice given after the treatment.

Whether pigmentation laser is possible depends on your skin type, the type of pigmentation and the technology used.

Hollywood Spectra™ and Clarity II™ offer different setting options, but not all pigmentation can be targeted in the same way on every skin type. Your consultation will determine the most suitable approach.

Hollywood Spectra™ uses very short pulses in particular, allowing a photoacoustic action on certain pigments.

Clarity II™ combines two wavelengths, Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm, so the energy can be adapted to different indications and skin types.

The choice is not left to the patient: your doctor selects the most appropriate technology after assessing your skin.

A tan is an increase in melanin in the skin, and melanin is precisely one of the targets of pigmentation laser.

Tanned skin can therefore increase the risk of side effects and means the session must be postponed or adapted.

It depends on your sun exposure, your skin type, the area and the laser used. For many pigmentation concerns, periods of low sun exposure are preferred to limit risks and better protect your results.

Pigmentation laser is not suitable in every situation.

Tanned or recently sun-exposed skin, certain active skin lesions, certain photosensitising medications or certain medical conditions may require the session to be postponed.

The treatment is not performed during pregnancy.

Any unusual or suspicious pigmented lesion must be medically assessed before any laser treatment.

A prior medical consultation checks your concern, your skin type and that there are no contraindications.
