BBL® HEROic™ - What is it
WHAT IS BBL® HEROic™?

BBL® HEROic™ (BroadBand Light) is a broadband pulsed light technology designed to improve the appearance of pigmentation and redness.

Its filters, calibrated between 500 and 650 nm, target two chromophores in the same session: the melanin in pigmented spots, and the haemoglobin in the small vessels behind diffuse redness.

Pigmented spots darken, then gradually clear as the skin renews itself, while redness fades over the following weeks. The energy is concentrated on these targets while limiting its impact on the surrounding skin.

This dual action means pigmentation and redness can be addressed in the same session.

At Innerskin, the platform used is BBL® HEROic™, the latest generation of Sciton's BroadBand Light technology: enhanced cooling and higher energy output allow for faster sessions and greater comfort.

The protocol is fully personalised: intensity, filter and number of passes are adjusted to your concern and your skin tone.

A MULTI-TARGET ACTION

  • MELANIN – Targets pigmented spots
  • HAEMOGLOBIN – Targets the small vessels behind diffuse redness
  • EVENNESS – Gradually improves skin tone evenness
  • RADIANCE – A brighter-looking complexion
  • TAILORED – Filter and settings adapted to your skin

Q&A

BBL® HEROic™ (High Energy Rapid Output with Intelligent Control) is the latest generation of Sciton's BroadBand Light platform. It is based on the same broadband light principle, with the same indications: pigmentation, redness and uneven skin tone.

The difference lies in how the energy is delivered: the light can be delivered more quickly and in continuous motion, with integrated cooling and temperature control. This allows larger areas to be treated in less time, with greater comfort.

The sensation feels like a light snap of an elastic band against the skin. A numbing cream can be applied beforehand for added comfort.

Between 2 and 4 sessions depending on your goals, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. Your Skin Expert will build your treatment plan with you during your consultation.

Pigmented spots may temporarily darken before clearing within 10 to 14 days. Slight redness is possible straight after the session, but you can usually resume your activities immediately.

Redness and a feeling of warmth may appear straight after the session, and pigmented spots temporarily darken before clearing.

More rarely, swelling, blistering or temporary pigmentation changes may occur. Any unusual reaction should be reported to the clinic.

BBL® is best suited to lighter to intermediate skin tones. On darker skin, an Nd:YAG laser, such as the one used for vascular laser treatment, is generally preferred to limit the risk of pigmentation changes.

As a precaution, the treatment is not performed during pregnancy. Your Skin Expert can suggest a suitable alternative.

Sun exposure must be avoided in the weeks before and after the session, and daily sun protection is essential to preserve your results.

BBL® targets both melanin and haemoglobin, addressing pigmentation and diffuse redness in the same session. Vascular laser, using an Nd:YAG wavelength, works deeper to target isolated, clearly visible vessels, including on darker skin. MOXI targets neither melanin nor haemoglobin, but the water in the skin, to renew its texture.

Three technologies, three targets: they can be carried out separately depending on your needs, or combined for complementary results.

It's never compulsory – each treatment works on its own, and the choice depends above all on your concern.

Combining it with MOXI is common: performed beforehand, BBL® helps prepare the skin. It can also be followed by the application of an exosome formula or topical PDRN, on freshly prepared skin.

BBL® is not suitable in every situation.

Tanned or recently sun-exposed skin, certain photosensitising medications, active skin lesions or certain medical conditions may require the session to be postponed or another approach to be chosen.

Any unusual or suspicious pigmented lesion must be assessed by a doctor before treatment.

As a precaution, the treatment is not performed during pregnancy.

A prior consultation checks your concern, your skin tone and that there are no contraindications.
