BEFORE AFTER
YOUR RESULTS

The concern: diffuse redness and small visible blood vessels on the cheek.

The protocol: 1 vascular laser session.

The result: reduced redness and less visible blood vessels.

YOUR JOURNEY, YOUR RESULTS

Redness, facial thread veins, visible vessels: target, reduce and even out.

After the first session

Some targeted vessels may become less visible quickly, while others fade gradually over the following weeks.

Over the course of treatment

Treatment may involve 1–3 sessions for isolated vessels, with more sessions needed for established facial thread veins. Sessions are spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with results developing progressively:

  • a visible reduction in redness caused by blood vessels
  • less noticeable visible vessels
  • a more even complexion

Maintaining your results

Daily sun protection and a tailored skincare routine help maintain results over time. The laser targets existing vessels but does not prevent new ones from appearing: maintenance sessions may be recommended if needed.

The number of sessions is determined during your medical consultation, and the doctor assesses your results at each stage. Individual results vary.

YOUR TREATMENT IN 3 STEPS

  • MEDICAL CONSULTATION

Your doctor assesses your redness, the type of vessels, their depth and location, and your skin type to determine whether vascular laser is suitable for you.

  • TAILORED SETTINGS

Your doctor adjusts the settings of the Clarity II™ Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser to the characteristics of the vessels and your skin.

  • TARGETED VASCULAR ACTION

Your doctor delivers laser energy to the targeted vessels. Haemoglobin absorbs this energy, causing a controlled rise in the vessel's temperature that gradually leads it to close.

Vascular Laser - What is it
WHAT IS VASCULAR LASER?

Vascular laser uses specifically selected light energy to target the haemoglobin in blood vessels.

When a blood vessel is dilated, it can become visible through the skin and contribute to persistent redness, broken capillaries or telangiectasia.

At Innerskin London, the treatment is performed by our doctors, all registered with the GMC, using the Clarity II™ Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser. Your Innerskin doctor confirms whether the treatment is suitable, selects the settings, performs the session and provides your follow-up care.

The haemoglobin in the blood absorbs the light energy delivered by the laser. This energy is converted into heat inside the targeted vessel, altering its wall in a controlled way and gradually causing it to close. The treated vessel is then gradually reabsorbed by the body over the weeks following the session.

This principle is known as selective photothermolysis: the aim is to concentrate the energy on the vascular target while limiting the impact on surrounding tissue as much as possible.

Your doctor precisely adapts the settings to the diameter, depth and location of the vessel, as well as to your skin type.

A MULTI-TARGET ACTION

  • HAEMOGLOBIN – Light energy targets the blood inside the vessel
  • VESSELS – Acts on certain dilated, visible vessels
  • REDNESS – Gradually reduces its vascular component
  • PRECISION – Settings are adapted to the characteristics of the vessels
  • COMPLEXION – Gradually improves skin evenness
WHO IS IT FOR?

Vascular laser may be suitable when redness is linked to dilated or visible blood vessels.

DIFFUSE REDNESS

Persistent redness can appear mainly on the cheeks, nose or chin. When a vascular component is identified, the laser can help gradually reduce its visibility.

BROKEN CAPILLARIES (COUPEROSE)

Broken capillaries typically appear as a network of small visible vessels, often on the cheeks and around the nostrils. The laser can directly target some of these vessels.

TELANGIECTASIA

These small dilated vessels – red, purplish or sometimes bluish – remain visible through the skin. Depending on their diameter, depth and location, the Nd:YAG 1064 nm can target them precisely.

ROSACEA

Rosacea is a chronic, complex skin condition whose signs can include persistent redness and visible vessels. Vascular laser does not treat rosacea itself, but in certain cases it may be suitable to improve its visible vascular component. Your medical consultation will determine whether laser is a suitable option.

AREAS

Depending on your concern:

  • Cheeks
  • Around the nostrils
  • Nose
  • Chin
  • Face
  • Décolletage
  • Certain areas of the body with visible vessels

Not all redness is vascular. Your medical consultation will identify its nature and determine whether the Clarity II™ Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser is the right treatment for you.

FAQ

The sensation is usually described as a series of quick pinpricks or a brief feeling of warmth as the laser passes. The integrated cooling system of the Clarity II™ helps improve comfort during the session.

The number of sessions depends on the type of vessel, its diameter, depth and location, and how your skin responds.

Some isolated vessels may need only a few sessions, while more diffuse redness or established broken capillaries may require several sessions spaced several weeks apart.

This depends on the type of vessel treated. Some may fade quickly, while others reduce gradually over the weeks following the session.

Your doctor reviews your progress and decides whether a further session is needed.

Not necessarily. The reaction varies depending on the vessel and the settings used.

Once treated, the vessel changes gradually over the following weeks. It is therefore important to give the area time before assessing the result.

Treated vessels can be reduced in the long term, but the laser does not prevent new vessels from appearing.

Individual predisposition, skin ageing, sun exposure or certain conditions such as rosacea can lead to new redness over time. Maintenance sessions may be offered if needed.

No. Rosacea is a chronic, multifactorial skin condition.

Vascular laser can improve some of its visible signs, including certain dilated vessels and certain persistent redness, but it does not cure rosacea itself.

Your medical consultation will determine whether laser is suitable.

Telangiectasia are small dilated blood vessels visible through the skin.

Broken capillaries (couperose) generally refer to small visible vessels and persistent redness, often on the cheeks and around the nostrils.

Rosacea is a more complex chronic skin condition that can cause persistent redness, flushing and visible vessels.

The Nd:YAG 1064 nm wavelength targets the haemoglobin in blood vessels and reaches vascular structures at different depths.

Your doctor adapts the settings to the diameter, depth and location of the vessel, as well as to your skin type.

The Nd:YAG 1064 nm has characteristics that allow it to be used on different skin types when the concern and the settings are appropriate.

Redness, a feeling of warmth or localised swelling may appear temporarily.

Depending on the type of vessel and the settings used, other temporary local reactions may occur. Your doctor will explain what to expect and the aftercare to follow after your session.

It is generally limited, but depends on the area and the intensity of the treatment.

Temporary redness or swelling may remain visible after the session. Your doctor will tell you what to expect based on your treatment.

Sun exposure should be limited before and after laser treatment, and high sun protection is essential.

Tanned or recently sun-exposed skin may mean the session needs to be postponed. Your doctor will advise you on the precautions and timings suited to your skin.

As a precaution, we do not perform vascular laser during pregnancy.

If you are breastfeeding, your situation will be assessed with your doctor before any session.

No. The laser targets the vessels present at the time of treatment but does not remove the factors that can lead to new vessels appearing.

Daily sun protection and, where rosacea is present, appropriate management help maintain your results over time.

Yes. Depending on your skin and your concerns, vascular laser can be part of a broader treatment plan.

Your doctor will decide which combinations are appropriate and the interval needed between treatments.

Vascular laser is not suitable in every situation.

Tanned or recently sun-exposed skin, certain active skin lesions, certain photosensitising medications or certain medical conditions may require the session to be postponed or adapted.

The treatment is not performed during pregnancy.

Your prior medical consultation checks your concern, your skin type and that there are no contraindications.
