YOUR TREATMENT IN 3 STEPS

  • MEDICAL CONSULTATION

Your Innerskin doctor assesses your face or the area concerned, your skin quality, your volumes and your expectations to determine whether a collagen stimulator is suitable, and to choose between Radiesse® and Sculptra®.

  • TARGETED INJECTION

Your doctor precisely injects the selected product into the defined areas, using a technique adapted to your anatomy and the result you are looking for.

  • GRADUAL BIOSTIMULATION

After the injection, the product works gradually by stimulating fibroblasts and natural collagen production. Results therefore continue to develop over the following weeks.

WHAT IS A COLLAGEN STIMULATOR?

A collagen stimulator is an injectable product designed to stimulate the skin so that it gradually produces more collagen.

Collagen is one of the key proteins in the structure of the skin. It contributes to its firmness, elasticity and support. Over time, its production gradually declines. The skin can then lose density and firmness, while the contours and volumes of the face change.

Collagen stimulators work differently from a simple filler: their main benefit lies in biostimulation.

Once injected into the tissues, they create an environment that supports the activity of fibroblasts, the cells responsible in particular for collagen production. The skin then gradually restructures from within.

Two leading injectable biostimulators can be offered by your Innerskin doctor: Radiesse® and Sculptra®.

A MULTI-TARGET ACTION

  • BIOSTIMULATION – Gradually stimulates collagen production
  • FIRMNESS – Improves skin firmness and quality
  • STRUCTURE – Supports the gradual restructuring of the tissues
  • VOLUME – Depending on the product, restores or redefines certain areas
  • SKIN QUALITY – Gradually improves the overall appearance of the skin
RADIESSE® & SCULPTRA®

TWO COLLAGEN STIMULATORS, TWO COMPLEMENTARY APPROACHES

Radiesse® and Sculptra® share a common goal: stimulating natural collagen production. However, their composition and the way they behave in the tissues are different. Your doctor selects the product according to your anatomy, the area concerned and the result you are looking for.

RADIESSE®

Radiesse® is made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a gel. Depending on how it is prepared and the injection technique, it can be used to provide structural support to certain areas, or in a biostimulation approach aimed mainly at improving skin firmness and quality. After the injection, the CaHA microspheres form a scaffold around which new collagen production is gradually stimulated.

Radiesse® is used to:

  • Improve skin firmness and quality
  • Redefine certain contours
  • Support certain areas showing a loss of structure
  • Address skin laxity, depending on the concern
  • Biostimulate certain areas of the face and body

SCULPTRA®

Sculptra® is a collagen stimulator made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Its action is essentially gradual: rather than aiming solely for immediate volume, it stimulates natural collagen production to gradually restore structure and volume. The result appears over the weeks and develops as the skin produces its own collagen.

Sculptra® is used to:

  • Gradually restore certain facial volumes
  • Improve skin structure and quality
  • Address age-related volume loss
  • Gradually redefine certain areas
  • Address certain body concerns where medically appropriate

Radiesse® and Sculptra® are not interchangeable. Your medical consultation will determine which product, amount and technique best suit your anatomy and your goals.

Collagen Stimulators - Who is it for
WHO IS IT FOR?

Collagen stimulators may be suitable for people who wish to:

  • Improve the firmness and quality of their skin
  • Address a gradual loss of elasticity
  • Redefine certain contours
  • Gradually restore certain volumes
  • Address age-related changes to the face
  • Achieve a gradual, natural-looking result
  • Stimulate their own collagen production

AREAS

Depending on the product and your concern:

  • Face
  • Jawline
  • Temples and certain areas showing volume loss
  • Neck
  • Décolletage
  • Hands
  • Certain areas of the body
  • Buttocks, in certain protocols using Sculptra®

Not all areas can be injected with every collagen stimulator. The choice of product and technique rests solely with the injecting doctor's assessment.

FAQ

Radiesse® is made of calcium hydroxylapatite and, depending on how it is used, can combine a structural effect with a biostimulating action on collagen.

Sculptra® is made of poly-L-lactic acid and relies mainly on gradually stimulating collagen production to restore structure and certain volumes over time.

The choice therefore depends on the area, your anatomy and the goal.

Hyaluronic acid is mainly used to directly add or restore volume, redefine certain areas or correct certain hollows.

Collagen stimulators rely more on biostimulation: they gradually encourage the skin to produce more collagen.

The two approaches can be complementary, depending on the needs of the face.

A change may be visible immediately after certain injections, particularly due to the product injected and the volume present in the tissues. However, the main benefit of collagen stimulators lies in their gradual development.

Collagen production builds over the weeks, so the result continues to develop after the session.

It depends on the product used, the area, your skin and your goals. Sculptra® is often given as several sessions spaced apart, while the Radiesse® protocol depends on the concern and how it is used.

Your doctor will define your treatment plan during the consultation.

Results are long-lasting but not permanent. How long they last depends on the product, the amount used, the area, your metabolism and your individual response.

Your doctor can advise you on how often maintenance treatment is appropriate.

You may feel some discomfort during the injection. The technique, the equipment used and the comfort measures in place help make the session as comfortable as possible.

You can usually return to your activities quickly. However, redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising may appear temporarily in the injected areas.

Your doctor will give you aftercare advice to follow after the session.

Radiesse® and Sculptra® injections are performed by Innerskin London doctors, all registered with the GMC, following a consultation to assess your anatomy and your expectations.

Collagen stimulators are not used interchangeably on every area of the face. The eye area requires a particularly careful assessment. Your doctor will determine the most suitable option for your anatomy.

Yes. Depending on your needs, they can be part of a broader treatment plan that includes other treatments targeting skin quality, laxity or volume.

Collagen stimulator injections are not suitable in every situation.

They are contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as in certain medical, inflammatory or infectious situations, or in the event of known hypersensitivity to any of the product's components.

Certain medical history, medications or previous injectable treatments must also be disclosed to your doctor.

A prior medical consultation is essential to assess your concern and medical history and to check that there are no contraindications.
